I have only one letter at present. However, it was authored by two people: Caleb Bowles and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. The George mentioned in Phoebe's letter is her husband, George Hearst.

I have arrived safe once more off of the Seas, on the Golden shores of the Pacific. I landed on Tuesday last 4 o'clock P. M. We had a very fine voyage indeed no rough weather at all. No sickness on board of importance. Did not loose a Case on the whole trip. Which is very extraordinary. Found Cousins George Hearst & Family are well. Cousin Puss [Phoebe] had just received a letter from Bro George [George Milton Bowles] and they were both well and doing first rate. I will have to make my letter very short for I have to write so many. You must excuse this. For its only to let you know that I am well and safely landed and to invite you to my wedding which will take place on Thursday next, the 6th Just at the Residence of Hon. Geo. Hearst Cor Chestnut & Leavenworth Sts. San Francisco. I am Requested to extend the invitation to your whole family also to Dr. Ed so be sure and come without fail. Cousin Puss will add a few lines so I will close. And my love to Sister Lew and Octavia and don't forget your self & Alfred and the rest of the Family while I remain yours
I wish you could all be here next thursday to attend the wedding. we are anxious to have you visit Cal. can't you leave those sick people? let the young Dr. take charge of them for a few months. I think you would be much pleased with our State. It may be you will see us in Mo. next Spring. if we decide to go, will leave here in April.
Geo joins me in love to yourself & family. will be much pleased to hear from you at any time. Geo is not much of letter writer. is very careless about answering - but I will promise to be punctual at least.
